Growing Food Gardens
Planting more gardens, and growing more food on the North Shore.
With ‘Growing Food Gardens’ volunteer gardeners cultivate gardens of people who have unused garden space and local residents who have gardens grow extra produce to make harvest donations to the EGP. This program can help to break down social isolation for gardeners who have difficulty gardening, can connect local volunteers with their neighbourhoods and the environment, and can teach volunteers and new gardeners how to grow food.
During the 2009 season, the EGP maintained 4 backyard garden sites, and prepared to cultivate the new EGP Demonstration Garden at the Queen Mary Community Garden.
