Volunteer your Time
Volunteers who want to garden can get involved in several different ways. We love to meet new volunteers for coffee or tea to chat about what their interests are, and what opportunities we have available. Email Emily at emily [at] ediblegardenproject [dot] com to set up a time to meet!
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring my kids?
Of course! We don’t offer childcare for volunteers, but kids are always welcome to join in with the activities under your supervision. We can usually find fun things for them to do, and you’ll be surprised how willing they are to get in and help.
How long are session?
Workbees and gardening sessions are usually 1.5-2 hours long. You’re welcome to leave early or come late.
What do I need to bring?
We provide tools, work gloves, and any materials we may be working with. You just need to bring your enthusiasm, weather appropriate clothing, and a water bottle.
Where are you located?
Our office is located at the North Shore Neighbourhood House on East 2nd and St Georges in North Vancouver, but it is unlikely that you’ll spend very much time there. Our Sharing Gardens, Urban Grains Demonstration Plots, and Community Food Forests are located all over the North Shore – check out this map. Loutet Farm is located at 14th Street and Rufus Ave (not to be mistaken for Rufus Dr) – east of Grand Boulevard by about four blocks.

How do I sign up?
There are lots of different ways you can figure out how you want to get involved with the EGP.
1. Take a look through our website or newsletter, and when you find something that sparks your interest email Emily to determine when/where you can get started. Emily [at] EdibleGardenProject [dot] com
2. Make an appointment with Emily to chat about what the EGP has to offer, and which programs align best with your interests, skills, goals, and schedule. Emily [at] EdibleGardenProject [dot] com
I really want to get involved, but my schedule doesn’t allow me to commit to regular volunteering.
That’s totally okay! We have weekly opportunities for people to “drop in” and garden with us. We’ll always be there, and when it suits your schedule you can join us.
At the end of the day if you don’t feel happy, satisfied, like you learned something new, inspired, and have some dirt under your fingernails, then something is not right! We’re happy to work with you to find the right fit, and we’re always open to hearing your ideas too.
