This will be the first Loutet Farm Workbee of the year! One of our monthly gatherings at Loutet Farm, the whole community is welcome to join in. We will have tools and gloves available for you to use and no experience is necessary. Who knows what Farmer Robbie will have in store for us, but I’ll take a guess that we’ll be prepping garden beds for planting and learning more about all the awesome soil he’s been building all winter.

Each Group Gardening session starts with a mini “workshop” on what we’ll be doing that day in the garden. Then we’ll get into the work, and the hands on application. Participants range from the very experienced to the never-gardened-before – everyone is welcome!

Buy seeds, swap seeds, learn to save seeds from your own garden, and much more seedy goodness to come at the second annual North Shore Seedy Saturday.

Seedy Saturdays happen across the world, and this is the only event on the North Shore! Last year was a huge success with over 100 people attending to get their hands on some rare varieties and many great veggie patch standards. This year Seedy Saturday will be bigger and better. It’s the perfect place for experienced and new gardeners to come together and share what starts it all – the seed.

If you’re looking at your backyard fruit trees wondering how to help them thrive, join fruit tree expert David Tracey for this ever popular hands-on workshop. This session will help you get a handle on the basics, and will help you boost your fruit production. This is an outdoor session, please come prepared for the weather, and bring your questions!

We are partnering with Ecourbia and the North Shore Table Matters Reference Group to bring together municipal election candidates to talk about where urban agriculture could be heading for the District of North Vancouver.
